Unlike regular weight, such as car seats (aka sprung mass), wheels have unsprung mass, also known as rotational mass. Unsprung mass has extra force on them, on top of the traditional ones, which affects performance greatly.
Simply put, on top of the directional force, the unsprung mass of a wheel is the force making it spin. A heavier wheel will be harder to get going, and harder to stop.
The same applies with the wheels contact to the road. A heavier wheel will have more momentum, causing your suspension to take longer to put the wheel back in contact with the road, reducing grip.
The same is true with the gyroscopic force on a wheel, the lighter it is, the easier it is to turn, all of which leads to better steering feel and handling.
Unsprung mass has roughly a 4x effect on performance compared to sprung mass.
Simply put, reducing the weight of each wheel by 7.5kg (roughly the weight savings by changing from normal aluminum wheels to carbon fiber wheels), can be equivalent to a weight reduction of 30kg per corner, or a total of 120kg!
Apart from the carbon itself, every single aspect of the wheel is manufactured in-house using state of the art machinery.
Our carbon fiber wheels are developed and manufactured using the same technologies, techniques, engineering, and expertise as our aerospace department, ENATA Aerospace.
Thanks to our techniques and use of carbon fiber, our aerospace products are world leading in terms of tolerances, precision, quality, and performance. That is the expertise that we bring to ENATA Wheels.
Our wheels are manufactured using over 100 different layers of carbon throughout the wheel, as well as using several different manufacturing techniques.
The same ceramic coating used in our jet exhausts can be applied to the wheels to help against break heat on track, and unlike aluminium or magnesium, carbon fiber doesn’t fatigue over time, giving the wheels a much longer lifespan.
Apart from the raw carbon itself, every single aspect of our wheels is built in-house. This not only guarantees the quality of our products, but it also helps keep production times low, and innovation high, as well as manufacture and design from custom one-off sets, to an entire white-label production line.
The ENATA Group is a manufacturing group established in the UAE
since 2016. Today it has 5 distinct divisions: ENATA Aerospace,
ENATA Marine, ENATA Industries, OEM, and now ENATA Motors.
ENATA Aerospace is our most technologically advanced division, focusing on anything from 4m long world record winning RC replica of the SR-71 Blackbird with Lockheed Martin, to manufacturing jet turbines, fuel tanks, parts for NASA, landing gear, and even developing a flying car.
ENATA Marine is our maritime department with its flagship product being the FOILER. The FOILER is a flying yacht that uses 4 retractable hydrofoils to lift itself out of the water and sail 1.5 meters above the waves, allowing for higher fuel efficiency and a smooth ride.
ENATA Industries focuses on larger industrial projects such as the core of desalination plants, the dome of the second largest mosque in Mecca, and projects such as the Louvre in Paris, the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, renovations in Notre-Dame, Masdar City Abu Dhabi, and the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
ENATA Motors is the latest addition to the group and brings all of ENATA’s expertise into the automotive industry. Starting with carbon fiber wheels, which are also used by ENATA Aerospace.
